GERVAIS, Edythe M. – of Montrose, age 89, passed away peacefully, January 12, 2019 at McLaren – Flint. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Vigil will be read at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio 4PM, Saturday, January 19, 2019. Deacon Ray Ellingson officiating. A funeral Mass will take place on a later date. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday from 1PM until the time of the Vigil at 4PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or any dementia related organization of your choice.
Edythe was born September 22, 1929 in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to the late Howard and Anna (Fitzgerald) Ellis. She graduated from Sault High School in 1947. Edythe married Patrick Gervais on November 28, 1951 in Chippewa County, Michigan. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2018. She retired from Beecher Community School District in 1990 after 20 years of service. Edythe was a previous member of SS. Charles and Helena. She enjoyed music, cooking and gardening. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Surviving are: Children: Don (Cheryl) Gervais of Flint, Dale (Cindi) Gervais of Sunbury, OH, Nancy Somers of Flushing, Mark (Donna) Gervais of Swartz Creek, Alan Gervais of Montrose, Denise (Gary) Hibbs of Flushing, and Dean Gervais of Montrose; 12 Grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; Brother, Thomas Ellis; Sister-in-law, Dorothy Ellis and many other loving family members. Edythe was also preceded in death by: Grandson, Jason Gervais; Brother, Ken Ellis; Sister, Joyce McKinney and son-in-law, Fred Somers.
