Antosik, R.J. of Flushing, age 67, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Rossell Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the funeral services. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 12-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A Masonic Service under the auspices of Flushing Masonic Lodge 223, F & AM will be 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
R.J. was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 28, 1944, the son of John and Mary (VanHoutte) Antosik. He married Macornath “Mackie” Ray on November 21, 1970 in Detroit, Michigan. She preceded him in death on January 3, 2007. R.J. served in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1964. He graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 1987. In 1981, R.J. became the first police officer in Flushing Township, retiring as Police Chief in 1988. He retired from Genesee County as Deputy Chief Prosecuting Attorney in 2002. R.J. was a member of the F.O.P., Dom Polski, and Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple, security unit. He was also a member of the Flushing Masonic Lodge 223, F & AM where he was Past Worshipful Master in 1998. R.J. enjoyed boating, being with his friends and family and his dog, Buddy.
He is survived by: son, R. J., II (Lisa Horkan) Antosik; girlfriend, Theresa Dobos; grandchildren, R.J. III, Andrew, Jessica, Ana Maria, Jason, Emily; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Judy) Antosik and John Antosik. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Ronda Antosik Genovesi; son-in-law, Geno Genovesi and step-son, Lenny Norris.
