CONGDON O'BRIEN, Violet J. (Petry) - Age 85, of Fenton, died January 14, 2018. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Rd., Fenton. Pastor Tara Sutton will officiate. Visitation will be held 4-8 PM Tuesday. Those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society or South Mundy United Methodist Church. Violet was born April 6, 1932 in Flint, the daughter of Arlan and Maude (Richards) Petry and was a 1950 graduate of Fenton High School. Violet married Harland Congdon on July 29, 1950; he preceded her in death on November 2, 1998. She then married Russel O'Brien on January 6, 2001; he preceded her in death on March 25, 2010. Mrs. O'Brien had many interests. She was an active member of South Mundy United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and volunteered monthly at the soup kitchen. She was a loving caretaker to many family members. Her family was her main interest. She is survived by her children, JoAnn Allen, Gregory (Joy) Congdon, Jeffery (Janet) Congdon, Harland Congdon, Darrell (Lynn) Congdon; stepson, Craig (Cheryl) O'Brien; step-daughter, Dalene Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Delores Ainsworth; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a great great grandson. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Ainsworth; sons-in-law, Donelson Ainsworth and Tom Allen; five brothers and four sisters. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com |
