Jurvelin, Walfred J. of Flushing, age 90, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life service will be Noon Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Flushing United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeanne Wisenbaugh and Rev. Debbie Line-Yencer officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church until time of the service. Interment of cremated remains of both Walfred and his wife, Marion will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, at Great Lakes National Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Flushing United Methodist Church.

Walfred was born in Trimountain, MI on December 16, 1924, the son of Gust and Alina (Pinnoniemi) Jurvelin. He married Marion E. Williams on June 6, 1953. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2015. Walfred was a decorated World War II Army Veteran. He retired from AC Spark Plug. He was a longtime member of Flushing United Methodist Church. Walfred lived his life with typical Finnish sisu. He was very soft spoken, kind hearted, had a strong work ethic and was very devoted to his family.

Walfred is survived by his sons, Robert (Penny) Jurvelin, Donald (Marcie) Jurvelin; daughters, Marsha (Dave) Hollis, Shelley (Lenny) Hufton, Amy (Dee) Niver; daughter-in-law, Kim Davison; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one more expected in August; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by eight siblings.
