Randall Scott "Randy" Alexander, a man known for his jovial nature and friendly demeanor, passed away on April 26, 2024, at the age of 64. Born on March 26, 1960, in Yale, Michigan, Randy's life was characterized by his enduring kindness and a ready smile that brought light and laughter to all who knew him. His final moments were spent at Sparrow Health System, surrounded by the love of his family and the countless memories he created with them.
Randy is survived by his wife of 27 years, Tammy, his devoted children, Cindy (Rick) Alexander, Duane "Chip" Alexander Jr., and stepdaughter Angela (Jerry) Wheaton. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Eric (Maxine) Haite Jr., Jacob Haite, Jessica (Mike) Walther, Duane (Courtney) Alexander, Nicole (Mike) Stout, Jerry Wheaton Jr., and Taylor Wheaton. His remarkable legacy continues through his adoring great-grandchildren, Ryan, Hudson, Memphis, Zoey, and Kylie. Randy's siblings, Terrie (Bill) Maples and Pam (Tom) Basnaw along with many step-siblings, nieces, and nephews, will hold dear the memories of his generous spirit. His passing was preceded by that of his parents, Roderick and Arlene Alexander, his brothers Duane Sr. and Roderick III "Rick", and his nephew, Roderick IV. His mother and father in-law, Charles and Kathleen Olson.
For over four decades, Randy was a respected figure in the transportation industry. He not only drove trucks but also owned and operated RC Fleet Service and Heavy Haul with unparalleled expertise. His contributions to the industry were substantial, and his colleagues will remember him not just for his incomparable skills but also for his capacity to make every interaction a pleasure.
Randy's love for semi trucks was more than a profession—it was a lifelong passion. He found joy in night drives in his Jeep, and many will recall the sight of him amiably cruising around on his Gator with his loyal dog, Ellie Mae. An expert behind the wheel and under the hood, Randy was also a master mechanic, a skill that served him well both in work and in his personal life. His adventurous spirit came to life in racing and hauling 18-axle loads, activities that mirrored the vitality and boldness with which he lived his life.
But it wasn't his professional achievements or hobbies that defined Randy—it was his heart. He was at his happiest while enjoying a scoop of ice cream or when he was engaging in his favorite pastime of visiting and sharing good times with family and friends. Randy understood that it was these connections, these moments of shared joy and fellowship, that crafted a life well lived.
His absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, yet Randy's life offers a roadmap to happiness—marked by kindness, laughter, and a friendly word for everyone. His legacy is etched in the hearts of those he touched, and his story will continue to inspire and guide them. Randy Alexander lived fully, loved grandly, and laughed often, epitomizing a life embraced with open arms and a big heart.
