MENOSKY, Joan. – of Clio, age 72, was called to her heavenly home, Tuesday, October 3, 2017, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM Friday, October 6, 2017 at Saints Charles and Helena Catholic Church – 230 E. Vienna St., in Clio. Rev. Fr. Kenneth Coughlin officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Thursday from 11AM until 8:30PM and at the church on Friday from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM. A Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of one’s choice.
Born Joan Kovacevic on December 19, 1944 in Flint, Michigan to the late Peter and Rose (Stimac) Kovacevic. She graduated in 1962 from St. Mary’s High School in Flint. Joan married Gerald Menosky at St. Francis of Assisi Church on December 5, 1964. Jerry preceded her in death on December 16, 2004.
In Joan's own words, “My greatest gifts in this life are my daughters: Jennifer and Mary; Son in law, Justin; and my grandsons: Jesse, Zachary, Cameron, Shane, Joseph, and Jonathan.” She retired from Michigan Bell in 1994 after many years of service, and devoted her life to her husband, children, and grandsons. Joan could often be found at her grandson’s soccer games, gymnastic meets, plays, dance recitals, and baseball games.
Joan was an active member in the community: Girl Scout Troop Leader for her daughters, active member of the American Legion, and Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #651; and member, President, and Treasurer of the Polish Legion of American Veterans Pulaski Post #8.
Joan's Catholic faith was an integral part of her life. She was a parishioner of Saints Charles and Helena for over 40 years. There she was involved in the church choir, funeral dinners, helping with the church festival, and served as a homebound Eucharistic minister.
Surviving are: Daughters: Jennifer (Justin) Streeter, and Mary Menosky; Grandsons: Jesse, Zachary, Cameron, and Shane Streeter, Joseph and Jonathan Grossberg; Brother, John (Rosemary) Kovacevic; Special son, Rolando Kadima of Bolivia; Sister-in-law, Marie Menosky; Many nieces, nephews and cousins.
