McDANIEL, Donna Lou -- Age 78, of Flint, died September 1, 2014. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Flint. Rev. Pete Scribner officiating. Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery, Flint. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Friday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM. Those desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
Donna was born May 5, 1936 in Flint the daughter of Harry and Chloris (Layer) Dixon. She married Norman McDaniel November 10, 1956 in Flint and he preceded her in death January 21, 2007. She retired from Genesee Township as an Accountant. Donna was a member of Calvary Presbyterian Church; she also was a member of the Goodwill Auxiliary, Friends of the Flint Public Library, and the Friends of the Kettering University Library and Archives. She enjoyed cooking and had an extensive cookbook collection dating back to the 1760's. Donna donated her cookbook collection to the MSU Library, which gave them the most extensive collection of Junior League cookbooks in the world.
Surviving are: 6 children, David and wife Cindy McDaniel of Chesterfield Township, Alan and wife Lezlie McDaniel of Decatur, Lauralyn McDaniel of Southfield, Martin and wife Judy McDaniel of Ortonville, Adam McDaniel of Columbiaville, and Leann and husband Martin Bommarito of Lapeer; 23 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Hayes and Delores Wilson both of Swartz Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
