SMITH, Stuart Allen – of Clio, age 56, died Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Hurley Medical Center. A private graveside service will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the family for future designation.
Stuart was born December 23, 1963 in Alma, Michigan to the late Victor and Eleanor (Overly) Smith. He grew up in the St. Louis, Michigan area and graduated from Skeels Christian High School in 1982. He served his country in the United States Army, retiring as a Command Sergeant Major with the 414th Civil Affairs Battalion with over 35 years of service. Stuart was a member of the American Legion Post #158, Masonic Lodge #205, and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post # 1452 all in Clio, Michigan. He also served a mentor for other veterans as a part of the Genesee County Veteran’s Court program. He enjoyed spending time with his two children, working on projects around the house, watching and attending Michigan State football and basketball games, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and of course spoiling his two dogs.
Surviving are: Children, Connor Smith, MacKenzie Smith; Siblings, Carol (David) Lindstrom, Bonnie Noel, Vicki (Brian) Reed, Victor Smith; Loved ones, Jerry (Inez) Kaleto; several nieces and nephews.
