George “Fred” Stearns of Flushing, age 86, died Saturday, January 7, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Rossell Funeral Home, Rev. Kenneth Sharp officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
George was born in Mt. Morris, Michigan on January 23, 1925, the son of Frederick A. and Mary J. (Andrews) Stearns. He married Virginia M. Lampson in Flint on June 8, 1946. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1977. He married Corliss Stanton in Flint on November 24, 1978.
George retired from Buick as a Supervisor. He had served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a co-owner of G. and S. Aviation, which was based at the Dalton Airport, Flushing.
George is survived by: wife, Corliss; three children, Dennis and wife JoAnne Stearns of Swartz Creek, Douglas and wife Lisa Stearns of Flushing, Diane Stearns of Saginaw; step-daughter, Jerri Baroski of Highland; step-daughter-in-law, Marsha Baroski of Flint; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents. |
