Born on March 6, 1937, in Vernon Township, Michigan, Leo was a man whose presence was a source of joy and comfort to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully in Bancroft, Michigan, surrounded by the love of his family.

Leo lived a full and vibrant life, marked by the love he had for his family and the many interests that kept him active and engaged. He was the beloved companion of Terrie Pfund, with whom he shared many cherished moments and adventures. Leo's legacy is carried on through his three sons, Gregory (Cynthia) of Owosso, Paul (Susan) of Clarkston, and Gerald (Jennifer) of Davidson. His spirit will continue to blossom in the lives of his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, who will miss their grandfather's warmth and guidance. Leo also leaves behind his loving sister, Virginia Cottenham, and he was a cherished member of Terie's family, including Victoria (Rob) Witherell, Max (Cara) Pfund, and Sarah (Andrew) Hoxie, along with their 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy, and his siblings Agnes, John, Harry, Dorothy, Marie, Victor, Richard, and his infant sister Barbara Jean.

An avid lover of the outdoors, Leo found solace and excitement in hunting and fishing, activities that brought him closer to nature's beauty. He was a familiar face at the county fair grandstand and took great pleasure in pulling ponies, a hobby that showcased his love for animals and the simple joys of life. Leo's competitive spirit shone brightly during poker games and visits to the casino, where he was known for his sharp wit and friendly banter.

Above all, Leo was a family man, whose heart was most content when surrounded by his loved and loving kin. He was a pillar of strength, kindness, and selflessness, always putting the needs of others before his own. His unwavering support and boundless love created an unbreakable bond with his family, one that will endure through the generations.

Those who knew Leo will remember him as a loving and kind man, whose selflessness was as natural to him as breathing. His gentle demeanor and generous heart left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Leo's memory will be treasured and kept alive through the countless stories and memories shared by friends and family.

As we bid farewell to Leo Henry Nickels, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of simple pleasures. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all.

As we reflect on his life, we are reminded of the importance of cherishing every moment and living with the same grace and compassion that he embodied.
