BILLS, Edwin Charles- Age 93, of Flushing, died January 31, 2017. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday February 4 at Sharp Funeral Homes Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Mr. Norman LeCureux officiating. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Countryside Gospel Chapel in Owosso or the Upper Peninsula Bible Camp.
Edwin was born April 30, 1923 in Flint, the son of Dilman and Lyda (Cool) Bills. He was the eldest child of eleven. He was a graduate of Flint Northwestern High School. Edwin married Verna Jean Nelson May 24, 1946 in Flint. Edwin served his country during WWII having joined the Army Air Corp as a Flight Officer. He was employed by GM for 39 years at AC and Chevrolet Truck and Bus. He dedicated his life to the Lord through his involvement with the Countryside Gospel Chapel, through his sermons at the Plymouth Bretheran Churches he served, and by being a volunteer jail chaplain for the Forgotten Man Ministries. He also did volunteer work with Jean at the Moody Keswick Bible Conference Center in Florida. Edwin was a devoted husband and father and was a fine example to his children. He loved the Lord and seeked to live a life that served and pleased Him.
He is survived by his children, David (Jane) Bills of Flushing, Linda (Cary) Twardowski of Flushing, Nancy (Randy) Leininger of Grand Blanc, Mark (Cindy) Bills of Grand Blanc, Rick (Cathy) Bills of Flushing; eleven grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; siblings, Harrold, William, Audrey Simmons, Jean Pemberton, and Judy Garza; several nieces and nephews.
Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; parents; infant grandson; brothers, Dale, Bob, Kenneth; sisters, Velma, Ruth, and Marge.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you for the loving care provided to him by numerous helpers at his home and the staff at Sugarbush Manor.
