HALL, Dr. DONALD age 85, died Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at the Durand Senior Care and Rehab Center. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the Court St., United Methodist Church, 225 W. Court St., Flint, MI. Reverends Robert Wright and John 'Jack' Harnish will be officiating. Interment at Flint Memorial Park to follow Service. Visitation Friday, December 28,2012, 1:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Brown Funeral Home, 1480 E. Hill Rd., Grand Blanc, MI. and 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Church. Donald was born August 15, 1927 in Detroit, MI. to parents Ralph and Helen (Hanna) Hall. He was raised on Detroit’s West Side and graduated from Northwestern High School in 1945. The thirteen years that followed were spent in the U.S. Coast Guard at the end of WWII, in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and in New York City. While Don was working in New York City with an advertising agency, he attended Billy Graham’s first crusade at Madison Square Garden and it was then that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord. In 1958 Don entered Boston University School of Theology. He graduated as an elder in 1962 and took his first appointment as a Methodist Minister at Campbell Avenue Church in Detroit. He married Judith Rae McCausland in June of the same year. Over the next 30 years Don ministered at the following appointments: Campbell Avenue UMC 1962, the Methodist Radio Parish, WMRP, Flint 1967, Flint UMC 1971, Oxford UMC 1973, Court St. UMC 1977, and Mt. Morris UMC 1986. In 1985 Don received his Doctorate of Ministry from Drew University School of Theology. During the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s Don was active in the Flint area radio and broadcasting community. He was the radio commercial voice of Koegel Meats, Skaff Furniture, Hamady and Kessel grocery chains, Paramount Potato Chips, The Diamond Exchange, Garber Buick, and Bay City Marina. In addition to his involvement in broadcasting, Don enjoyed several hobbies including playing the guitar, reading, writing, swimming, camping, and cheering for U of M sports teams. Don joins his beautiful wife Judy Hall in Heaven who passed away November of 2011. He is survived by his four children; Jeannette Hall, Michael Hall, Maria Hall, Joseph Hall (and Kelly Buchanan), and nine grandchildren; Ashley Hall, Tyler Hall, Harmony Swayne, Noah Swayne, Izabel Swayne, Catherine Leone, Willow Hall, Kylie Buchanan, Mason Buchanan and many nieces and nephews. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
