YOUNGS, Cecil E. Jr. ‘Gene’– of Flint, age 81, passed away Monday, June 20, 2011 at Genesys Hospice Care Center, Goodrich. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, Pastor Gary L. Beck officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church.
Gene was born in Flint on October 11, 1929, son of the late Cecil Sr. and Sadie (Kennedy) Youngs. He married Madeline White who preceded him in death. Gene married Ruth Emery on April 12, 2003 at St. Mark Lutheran Church. Gene was a member of the FOP, Federation of Police. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Gene retired from Fisher Body with many years of service.
Gene is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughters, Dorene Comerford of Oceanside, GA, Janet Heidel of Flint, MI, Jackie Sowa of Flint, MI; son, Laurence Prentice of Texas; son-in-law, Andrew Sowa of Flint, MI; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Berneice, Patty and Phyllis; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by daughters, Audrey Harris and Sharon Paris and brother, Jack Youngs. Gene’s family gives a special thank you to Pastor Gary L. Beck and the staff of Genesys Hospice.
