SHAVER, Gerald “Jerry” Dennis – of Davison, MI, age 67, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2020. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. John M. Machiorlatti celebrant. Interment in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 and 10-11 AM Saturday, September 26, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6:30 PM Friday, September 25, 2020 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Jerry was born in Flint, MI on September 22, 1952, son of the late Chester and Edna (Clark) Shaver. He was in the first graduating class of Powers Catholic High School Class of 1971. Jerry married Marcia Smitz in 1973 and she preceded him in death on January 4, 2005. He retired from General Motors in 2008 after 30 years of service. Jerry was a member of U.A.W. Local 651. He enjoyed retirement and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by 3 children Christa Klingensmith (Gary Huyck), Jeremy (Alicia) Shaver and Jeffrey Shaver; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Klingensmith, Caleb Huyck, Madalynn Shaver and William Shaver; 2 sisters, Martha Shaver and Mary Shaver; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Edna Shaver; wife, Marcia Shaver; 2 sisters, Cathy Tannenbaum and Karen Jamison.
