Mrs. McAra was born September 8, 1919 in Kearney, NE, the daughter of Roy and Phylena (Nee: Lawton) Allen. She was a graduate of Mio High School and Hurley School of Nursing as an RN. Both she and her husband worked while Judge McAra attended University of Detroit undergraduate and law school. Upon graduation they moved to Flint, Michigan for a year with their three children and then to Lake Fenton where they had their fourth child. She was employed by Hurley Hospital. Following Hurley Hospital she was a private duty nurse. Judge and Mrs. McAra spent many years living on Lake Fenton where they first moved in 1953. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church since 1953.

Monna lived a remarkable life. She was the most of many things, including sweet, dignified, funny, kind and tough. She met every challenge with compassion and without judgment. She honored God as a practicing Catholic and member of the St. John’s Fenton congregation throughout her adult life. She showed kindness and empathy to her many friends, most of whom she outlived. She defined love to her family in everything she did. She was her family’s precious matriarch. Monna’s life was filled with children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived to be with them and to love them. In turn she was loved by them without reservation.
