CASEY, Edith W. – Of Burton, age 73, died on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Avalon Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Dr. LeRoy Jolly officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Humane Society of Genesee County.
Visitation 11 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Edith was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on September 9, 1938, and was a resident of Burton and Flint area since 1957, coming from Erwin, Tennessee. She married Roscoe Casey on February 2, 1955 in Erwin, Tennessee. She attended First General Baptist Church. Edith enjoyed playing Bingo at the Burton Senior Center and enjoyed crafts. She loved her dog, Riley. Surviving are son, Rick and wife Suzy of Flint;
daughter, Robin and husband Ed Welehodsky of Flushing; two grandchildren, Jared and Erik; 4 sisters; 5 brothers; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe; parents, Earl and Lucy Oliver. A special thank you to all the staff at McLaren Hospital, McLaren Cancer Center, Fostrian Rehab and Avalon Hospice for their love and compassion.
