Isabelle M. Birchmeier
Age 84 of New Lothrop passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Maple Woods Manor in Clio.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11am Friday, November 4, 2016 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Maple Grove with Fr. John Cotter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Nelson-House Funeral Homes-New Lothrop Chapel on Thursday from 1 to 8pm with a rosary prayed at 7pm.
Isabelle was born January 20, 1932 in Saginaw, the daughter of Isadore and Cecilia (Cieslinski) Gengler.
She was a 1950 graduate of Chesaning High School, member of St. Michael Catholic Church and a volunteer for McLaren Hospital.
She married Philinus Birchmeier in Chesaning on August 18, 1951; he predeceased her in 1994.
Isabelle had a love for taking trips and traveling and especially looked forward to stops at the casino. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and playing card games. Most of all she loved get-togethers and spending time with her family. Isabelle had a special love for children; especially her grandchildren.
Isabelle was employed through the years at Mitchell Bentley, Universal Electric and Fisher Body.
She is survived by her children Phyllis (Paul) Campbell , Linda Ferrigan, Becky (Chuck) Taylor, Karen (Ray) Nelson, Paul (Lynn) Birchmeier, Pete (Sue) Birchmeier and "Big" Joe Birchmeier; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers Raymond (Diane) Gengler James (Ann) Gengler; several nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Isabelle was predeceased by her husband Philinus; 2 grandchildren; brother Wilfred Gengler; sister Lillian Bitterman.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of donor's choice.
