BREWER, James Roland - Of Fenton, age 80, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 7pm Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint
Pastor Edwin Brewer and Pastor Jackie Brewer officiating.
Visitation 11am Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Roland was born in Holly Bend, Arkansas on November 15, 1935, the son of Clyde David and Marie (Kinder) Brewer. His parents were farmers who instilled a strong work ethic and a deep love for the Lord, gospel music and family. Roland loved the Lord and he loved his family. He enjoyed playing his guitar, singing and writing gospel songs. Roland worked for General Motors since 1955, retiring in January 1987. He attended Glad Tidings Tabernacle where he played guitar and sang. He married Shirleen “Petie” McDaniel on June 16, 1958. To this union were born 2 children, son Mark and daughter, Dana. His favorite memories include “bean flipping” with his family and four wheeling with his granddaughters. Roland’s sweet spirit, kind nature and contagious laugh will be greatly missed.

Daughter, Dana and husband Bub VanAken of Arcadia, FL;
Daughter-in-Law, Cheryl Brewer-Cortez of Red Oak TX;
Granddaughters, Nicole and husband Mitch Nitz of Red Oak, TX, Kristi and husband Brooks VanAken of North Adams, MI and Kellie and husband Marcus Garland of Cedar Hills, TX;
Great-grandchildren, Jaidyn, Cheyenne, Olivia, Isabella, Beckett, Autumn and Hunter;
Siblings, Charles and wife Helen Brewer of Bella Vista, AR, Helen and husband Bill McGee of Russellville, AR, Dwayne and wife Carol Brewer of Flint, MI, Betty and husband Kenneth Cook of Jerusalem, AR;
Sister-in-law, Maxine Brewer of Russellville, AR;
Nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Brewer, parents, Clyde and Marie Brewer, brother, Archie Brewer, mother and father-in-law, John and Dorothy McDaniel, brothers-in-law, Mike Luchenbill and Dan pool and nephew, Ken Terry.
