ADAMS, Gary Lynn - Age 65, of Flint, died March 3, 2017. Funeral services will be held 12:30 PM Thursday March 9 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held 1-4 and 6-9 PM Wednesday, and 11:30-12:30 PM Thursday. Those desiring may make contributions to the family or the American Diabetes Association.
Gary was born January 31, 1952 in Terceira, Azore Islands the son of Dennis Adams II and Joyce (Taylor) Adams. He was a 1970 graduate from Carman High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS MacDonough DDG-39. He married Shirley A. Doty in Flint on February 24, 1973. He was retired from General Motors. He was an avid animal lover and history buff. He loved the military. He enjoyed flea markets and garage sales, gardening, holiday gatherings, and trips up north. He loved his 4 grandkids. He enjoyed hot rod cars with his son Josh and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Shirley; children, Tonya (Carl) Trimble of Durand, Joshua Lynn Adams of Swartz Creek; daughter-in-law Jeni Adams; grandchildren, Riley and Harper Adams, Maya and Nolan Trimble; brother, Dennis (Theresa) Adams III, and son Nathan, of Flint; step-brother Steve (Paula) Rainey; many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father Dennis; sister, Kimberly Williams; mother Joyce Rainey; step-father George Rainey; nephew Dennis Adams IV; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elmer and Mary Doty.
