JAQUES, John Robert - Age 89, of Flint, died September 5, 2014. Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Road, Swartz Creek. Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service.
John was born November 27, 1924 in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada the son of Lloyd Edward and Priscilla Ann (Walmsley) Jaques. He was a graduate of Dye High School and GMI. He was a WWII Veteran and Purple Heart recipient serving in the U.S. Army. He married Norma Dittamore July 6, 1946 in Flint and she preceded him in death December 30, 2013. John retired from GM Buick in 1981 after 20 years of service and he also owned and operated Flint Industrial Engineering for 15 years. He was a member of St. Paul Episcopal Church in Flint and the Lions Club; he also was a life member of the Fenton Masonic Lodge, Oasis Shrine Club, and Elf Khurafeh Fellowship Lodge #490. He enjoyed oil painting and woodworking.
Surviving are: 2 children, James and wife Vicki Jaques and Cindy Lou and husband Rod Wagner both of Swartz Creek; 3 grandchildren, Jason Jaques, Brendon and Justin Sari; 2 step grandchildren, Dusty and Jennifer Brill; several great grandchildren; sisters, June Taylor of Flint and Patsy and husband Dick Johnson of Flushing; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard, Pete, Jerry, Gary, and Michael Jaques.
