McGUIRK, Ruth Elaine – Of Flint, age 88, died Monday, September 28, 2015 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Those desiring may make contributions to Burton Senior Center.
Visitation 10 a.m. Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ruth was born in Wolverine, Michigan on September 10, 1927.
Ruth married James McGuirk on December 12, 1949 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2006.
Ruth was active at the Burton Senior Center, an avid camper and Euchre player, loved dancing and spending time with her family.
Ruth worked as a Secretary at McKinley School for 30 years.
Surviving are four children, Marilynn and husband Mike Golding of Clarkston,
Elaine Swift of Swartz Creek,
James, Jr. and wife Pam of Fenton,
Jo Ann Wallace and fiance’ Jim Romano of Flint;
12 grandchildren, Andy, Jeff, Tom, John, Jimmy, Joey, Ashley, Gina, Anthony, Katelyn, Jordan and Jackie;
four great-grandchildren, Cailee, Avynn, Brynn and Pace;
brother, Donald Wood of South Lyon, MI;
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Jeffrey, on August 14, 1998.
