Mr. Alvin Eugene Banks, Sr. was born January 9, 1941, in Curtis, Arkansas, the son and 10th child of the late Charles Henry and Selma (Luster) Banks, Sr.
Mr. Banks was a young child when his parents moved to Flint, Michigan to work in the automobile factory. At a young age, Mr. Banks had a strong desire to work and acquired a work permit at the age of 14 when the legal age was 16. Those two years he added to his age in order to work back then, followed him for the rest of his work life. He worked various jobs as a youngster including bowling pin set-up guy and score keeper, before automation, at the bowling alley. Mr. Banks attended Flint Northern High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1959. After his stint in the Army, he was employed by the Flint Board of Education and Chevrolet Manufacturing Company widely known as “Chevy in the Hole.” When it was discovered that he had two full time jobs, he had to choose one. He chose to stay at “Chevy in the Hole” a division of General Motors Corp., until his retirement.
After Retirement, Mr. Banks moved to Dallas, Texas for several years. He had family there and enjoyed spending holidays with his nephew Andrew Gore, his wife Shay along with other family members. After his health began to fail, he decided to move back to Michigan to be close to family in October of 2018.
Mr. Banks enjoyed eating, cooking, and reading. His very favorite thing to do was TALKING ON THE PHONE, calling family members daily, especially his sister whom he called every day, all day, seven days a week. He left no one longing to hear his voice.
Mr. Banks leaves to cherish his sweet memories and in God's care: one daughter, Felecia Victoria Banks of Fenton, MI; one son, Alvin Eugene Banks, Jr. of Flint, MI.; 2 grandchildren, Marius (Jessica) Banks of Grand Blanc, MI, James T.
