Donald E. Clark, age 76, of East Tawas, Michigan, formerly of Flint, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Donald graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1955 and after completing a technical degree program at G.M.I. he went to work for A.C. Spark Plug/General Motors where he retired after 35 years of service. Donald married his wife Louella on December 11, 1976 and they celebrated 37 wonderful years of marriage, filled with travel, adventure, and love. He enjoyed traveling in his restored Greyhound bus conversion motor home and recently Lou and Don had a memorial two month journey throughout the Northwest U.S. He was a member of the Family Motor Coach Association (FMAC) and Converted Coach Organization (CCO). He was a sponsor of AMA flat track motorcycle races and had many great memories with his partner and friend Bart Markel. Don had a great sense of humor and enjoyed life. He had a favorite saying: “My candle burns at both ends, it will not last the night. But oh my foes, and oh my friends, it gives a lovely light.” He is survived by his beloved wife Louella Clark (nee. Chaney), children Lori (Robert) Malmstrom, Jane (Michael) Griffin, Janet (Ben) Tayamen, and their mother Patricia Etzler, Ron Ruff (Jill Bartle), and Denise Ruff; 9 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren; brother Bill (Chris) Clark; sister MaryAnn (Steve) Dobson and his loving dog Daisy. The family would like to thank Don’s doctors and surgeons and the wonderful staff in the ICU unit at McLaren Hospital in Flint for their support and kindness during the past month. Per family request cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held in Flint at the Raincheck Lounge in the spring of 2014. The time and date of the memorial service will be announced at a later date, and friends and family are encouraged to refer to www.bureshfuneralhomes.com for continuing details.
