Mary “Mickey” Savio, age 91 of Grand Blanc, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She was born on September 26, 1928 in Flint, the third of three daughters born of Leslie and Harriet Parker. As a longtime resident of Grand Blanc, she graduated from Grand Blanc schools in 1946. Mickey attended the then Flint Junior College, earning an Associate’s Degree in 1948. She went to work for the United States Postal Service, where she rose to Assistant Postmaster of the Grand Blanc office. Mary retired in 1979. Mary met and married Frank T. Savio in April of 1977. They lived in White Plains, New York for several years until eventually moving to Florida. While living in Grand Blanc, Mary did volunteer work for the Michigan State Police, Grand Blanc Township, and other organizations. She was a long time member of the Florida Sweet Adeline’s Vocal Group and enjoyed performing. Mickey has a lifelong love for northern Michigan where she had camped with her family as a child, and later spent many summers in retirement. Mary is survived by her nephews: Michael (Cynthia) Dunk of Grand Blanc, and John (Rose) Dunk of Owosso; great nephew and niece: Steven (Stacey) Dunk, Anne (John) Cox; great-great nephews and nieces: John, Dylan, Julia, Madison, Aiden; and special friend, John Ortez. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank T. Savio; sisters: Lorraine Parker and Doris Dunk. A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 6-8pm and again on Thursday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice. |
