Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 05, 2014, at her residence in Independence Village of Frankenmuth, at the age of 86 years. Vera Krabbe was born October 8, 1927 in Saginaw, MI and resided in Indiantown. She married Ervin Victor Waack on June 22, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1979. She later married William Arnholt on September 17, 1982. He preceded her in death on August 2, 1988.
Vera was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She volunteered at Abortion Alternative in Saginaw and at Insight Recovery Center in Flint. Her passion in life was giving care and joy to her children, stepchildren and especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Vera is survived by 2 daughters: Sandra (Dr. Frank) Piesko and Wendy (Dr. Fred) Zehnder; stepchildren: William (Michelle) Arnholt and Brian Arnholt; grandchildren: Dr Frank (Tammy) Piesko, Dr. Ryan (Kelly) Piesko, Carolyn (Mark) Petzing, Dr. Christopher Zehnder, Mike (Elyse) Zehnder, Jennifer (Davor) Pasovic and Justin (Natalie) Corcoran; 18 great-grandchildren, a sister, June Huebner, many nieces and nephews, special friend , William Fisher, friends and caretakers: Lynette Remenecz and Carol Leslie, the wonderful staff at Independence Village, and devoted canine companion, her Yorkie, Ember.
Vera was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Janine Corcoran, and a sister, Evelyn Bauer.
A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, W. Tuscola St., Frankenmuth. A private committal service will precede the memorial service at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Vera’s family will receive visitors on Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. and at church on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Muscular Dystrophy Association or Frankenmuth City Beautification Committee.
