George “Corky” Rainey, born in Flint, MI to Ralph and Gladys Rainey. George proudly served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the US Postal Service after 33 years as a letter carrier in the Flint area. He was a lifetime member and past Commander of The Federal Employees Post 496 of the American Legion. George joins his wife Joyce of 24 years who passed away in December of 2012. He was a very dedicated caregiver for her during her extended illness. Survivors include his son, Steve (Paula) Rainey; step sons: Gary (Shirley) Adams and Dennis (Theresa) Adams; grandchildren: Katie Rainey, April Rainey, Josh Adams, Tonya (Carl) Tremble, Sam Williams, Jacob Williams, Sara Williams, Joe Williams, and Nathan Adams; many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded by his wife, Joyce Rainey; brother, Harold Dean Rainey; sister, Naomi Chaffin; grandson, Dennis Adams IV. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Hill Funeral Home (11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc). Pastor Joseph Hall officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 from 1-8pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the Wounded Warriors Project in George’s name.
