MINTO, Robert Clayton – of Davison, age 86, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at his residence. A Funeral Service will be held 11AM Saturday, April 5, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint St., Davison; Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. Burial, with Military Honors under the auspices of the Davison American Legion Post # 267 will be in Davison Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 PM Friday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Saturday, visitation will be at the church from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, Lapeer County Medical Care Facility-Suncrest or An Angels’ Touch In Home Care.
Bob was born in Davison, MI on February 10, 1928, son of the late Thomas and Clara (Bethke) Minto. He married June Wigard on September 9, 1950. Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Davison American Legion Post #267 for 65 years. Mr. Minto was President of Minto Brothers Construction, DCC Development and Davison Country Club and was the last of the original owners. He helped build more than 12 churches in the Davison area. Bob was a huge sports fan and an active Republican. He had a strong work ethic and felt that your word is everything and a handshake was like gold. Bob was a family man who was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, June; children, Tyrone Minto, Kathy (Anthony) Wittbrodt, Kurt (Marla Beck) Minto, Randy (Carla) Minto, Kimberly Minto; grandchildren, Kurt II (Natosha) Minto, Emily (Jeremias) Dirk, Ashley (Rob) Soethe, Alice Wittbrodt, Nicholas (Jackie) Minto, Alex (Jennifer) Minto, Hannah Wittbrodt, Clayton Minto; great-grandchildren, Niah Minto, Winona Dirk, Jacob Soethe, Trenten Minto, Dylen Minto, Beckham, Addison Minto, Bradley Minto and two more on the way; sister, Alice Stefanko; brother, Thomas Minto Jr. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Oren, Kenneth, Harvey, Edward and Gabby; sisters, Helen Morrissett and Margaret Foxworthy; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Minto. The family would like to say a special thanks to friends and caregivers Beth Smith and Leann Bednarski.
