PRENTICE, James A. – Of Flint, age 82, died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Sugarbush Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church, 746 South Saginaw in Flint, Reverend Dr. Joseph A. Novak officiating. Mr. Prentice will be at the church from 10 a.m. Monday.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to EK Shrine Local Hospital Transportation, PO BOX 1 Clio ,MI 48420.
Visitation 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
James was born on August 21, 1934 in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late John and Inez (Woods) Prentice.
Jim proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was a member of the Masons and Elf Khurafeh Shrine and played in the Highlanders Bagpipe Band, marching in many parades.
On June 16, 1973 he married Patricia Koch in Flint. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2000.
Jim was employed by GM for over 30 years, as a Manager in the Engineering Department.
Surviving are daughters, Susan and husband Chris Johns of Flushing, Michigan,
Cheryl and husband Todd Shewmaker of St. Joseph, Michigan;
stepdaughter, Susan and husband Matthew Skiba of AuGres, Michigan;
stepson, David Koch of Alpena, Michigan;
grandchildren, Christopher, Scott, Ian, Michael, Kyle, Erik, Amanda, Allison, Jonathan, Rayna and Carson;
sister, Marjorie Berryman of Fenton, Michigan;
brother-in-law, Jim Henderson of Rochester Hills, Michigan.
