POTTS, Violet – of Fenton, formerly of Belfast, Northern Ireland, age 96, went peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Grand Brook Memory Care of Grand Rapids. Funeral service will be held at 12PM on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Fenton – 860 N. Leroy St., in Fenton. Pastor James Bell officiant. Burial to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the church from 10AM until the time of service at 12PM. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Missions fund at First Baptist Church of Fenton.

Violet was born August 3,1928, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, to the late Fredrick and Sarah (Magee) McBride. She attended Saint Saviors School, in Belfast, graduating at the age of 14. Violet married her beloved husband, James Potts, on June 12, 1954, at the Woodvale Presbyterian Church in Belfast. In September of 1955, James and Violet immigrated to the United States with the assistance of a close cousin who sponsored their move. They resided in Fenton for a short while until moving to California while James served in the United States Army. After his discharge, James and Violet returned to Fenton until their retirement in 1999 when they moved to the community of Shiawassee Shores in Linden. After 51 years living in the United States, they became naturalized citizens in 2006. They were active members and supporters of the First Baptist Church in Fenton for 65 years. Violet was a homemaker for much of her life, working a short time in the cafeteria and outside on the playground at North Road Elementary School in Fenton. She made the best chocolate chip cookies and loved spending time with her family whenever possible. Violet was an incredible woman who can never be replaced and will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

Violet is forever remembered by her Children: Heather (John) Mikulenas and David (Donita) Potts; Grandchildren: Travis (Andrea) Mikulenas, Mackenzie (Mark) Satkoski, Tyler (Betsy) Mikulenas, Taylor (Ben) Raichel, and Bryce Potts; Great Grandchildren: Leighton, Nolan, Maisie, Sammy, Collins, Emery, and Lincoln; Sister, Betty (Billy) McQuiston of Frankston, Australia; Nephews: Fred, Bill, and Noel Ervine and Kenneth McQuiston; Niece, Dawn McQuiston. Violet was preceded in death by her Husband, James Potts; Parents, Fred and Sarah; Sister, Maisie (Norman) Ervine.
