SMIGIEL, Edward J. – Of Swartz Creek, age 90, died Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, August 28, 2017
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Paul Donnelly
officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 6 p.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Edward was born in Flint, Michigan on May 29, 1927.
He married Erna Mae Ohman in Flint on June 12, 1954.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Smigiel retired from Hamady Brothers in 1985, after 26 years of service.
He enjoyed harness horse racing, traveling and visiting casinos.
Surviving are son, Stephen and companion, Connie Hunter;
sister, Phyllis Jasinski;
close niece, Sophie and husband Denny Younkin;
many other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erna Mae; sisters, Mary, Annie, Hattie, Helen and Stella; brothers, Louie and Oscar.
