VAN BEERS, Peter W. – of Daytona Beach, FL, age 88, passed away March 17, 2018 at Halifax Health Hospice in Port Orange, FL. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10 AM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until time of Mass on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Peter was born in The Hague, Holland on August 29, 1929, son of the late Peter and Juliana (Schmidt) Van Beers. He married Betty Angeli on July 17, 1987 in Mt. Clemens, MI. Peter attended St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church when in Michigan and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lake Wales, when in Florida. He enjoyed tinkering with cars nearly his entire life. Peter owned several vintage cars over the years, which brought him much enjoyment. He also enjoyed model trains and built a small layout in their basement. Peter spent many hours in front of his computer researching and learning. He kept many family members busy bailing him out of computer related problems. Peter was an avid reader. He especially enjoyed reading about company histories and WWII events. Peter enjoyed watching football and basketball on TV and listening to classical music. Peter spent nearly his entire career working as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, retiring from the Sterling Heights plant.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Betty Van Beers; sister, Nelly Ballering; sons, Daniel Van Beers and Chris Van Beers; stepchildren, Sharon Crowe, Gary Yezbick, Gail McClung and Dave Yezbick; grandson, Nicholas Yezbick. He was preceded in death by his brother, Casey Van Beers.
