Caron, Gayle Louise of Flushing, age 69, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at her home. Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Cornerstone Community Church, 5182 N. Elms Road, Flushing. Pastor Rick Schmidt will officiate. Cremation to follow services. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Whaley Children's Center. .
Gayle was born in Goodrich, Michigan, on March 14, 1947, the daughter of Alexander and Pauline (Shock) Johnston. She married Roy Caron on February 19, 1966, in Flint, Michigan, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Roy and Gayle recently celebrated 50 years of marriage. Gayle and her family moved to Flint where she attended Central High School and graduated in 1965. While in high school, Gayle belonged to the Stepping Stone Club. As a young person, she attended First Baptist Church in Grand Blanc, Michigan, where she came to know the Lord and accept Jesus as her personal Savior. Gayle worked as a Legal Secretary for 14 years and as a foster care worker for several years. She resided in Flushing for most of her adult life. Gayle served as President for one term for the American Business Women's Association and was a Sunday School teacher as well as a Girl Scout leader. As a Christian Ministry, Roy and Gayle became foster and adoptive parents. They raised 18 children, adopted seven, and cared for many other foster children who will always remain in their hearts. Gayle was the glue that held this large family together.
Gayle is survived by her husband, Roy; daughters, Jacquelyn Renee Slough, Lynnette Susanne LaBrecque; many foster and adoptive children; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care. |
