SALMINEN, Shirley Mae – of Clio, age 95, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at Cranberry Park Transitional Living in Clio, Michigan. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, Michigan. Pastor Don Albright officiating. Burial in Flint Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Maranatha Baptist Church.
Shirley was born May 10, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Leonard and Lucille (Kempinen) Juntunen. She grew up in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Dollar Bay, Michigan. She graduated from Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1942 where she lettered in Declamation. On January 9, 1945 she married Carl W. Salminen in Detroit, Michigan and he preceded her in death on September 22, 1981. Shirley was a member of the Maranatha Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir. She enjoyed traveling, shoe shopping, ice skating and going to dinner with her family. Shirley also sang on the radio in her younger years. The family would like to say “Thank You” to the staff at Cranberry Park Transitional Living for the great care they provided.
Surviving are: Children, Dale (Jill) Salminen, Dennis (Denise) Salminen; Grandchildren, Daniel Salminen, Lanaya Salminen, Andrea (Aaron) Crampton, Kelly (Kyle Yaklin) Salminen; Great Grandchildren, Grace, Gabriel, Isaac; Sister in law, Ruth Juntunen.
