Marcia A. Thompson, 87, of Cedar, passed away peacefully November 4, 2010, at Tendercare in Traverse City. She was born January 8, 1923, in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Herbert and Vera (Deming) Thompson.
Marcia earned a Master’s Degree in Education and also a degree in nursing. She worked as a teacher and also a Registered Nurse in East Lansing for many years. She was an active member in the White Shrine, Eastern Star, Order of Rebecca, and St. Christopher’s Episcopal Church in Northport. Marcia was a very generous person, and spent her life helping others whenever and wherever help was needed.
Marcia is survived by her brother Fr. Edgar A. (Roberta) Thompson of Pahrump, NV and a sister-in-law Jane Thompson of Leland. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Michelle Thompson-Roberts, Fairbanks, AK, Janet (Elmer) Bardenhagen, Maple City, Mark and Jeff Thompson, Columbus, OH, Mike (Betty) Thompson, New Port Richie, FL, Paul Micahels Thompson, James Andrew Thompson, and Susan Lee Thompson; and her sister-in-law, Roberta R. Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Donald Thompson.
A family graveside service will be held in Dayton, Ohio at a later date.
