YORK, DEAN - Of Flint, Michigan, age 65, passed away at his home on March 4, 2025.
Funeral service will be held 3pm Monday, March 10, 2025 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Cremation will take place following the service.
Visitation 1-8pm Sunday and 12pm Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home. A VFW Memorial service will be held at 7pm Sunday evening.
Dean was born on December 17, 1959, in Flint, Michigan, to Carl and Donna (McGlinchey) York. A man of many talents and passions, he found joy in racing, hunting, fishing, golfing, and shooting pool. He was a longtime member of VFW Post 822. He carried on his father’s love for stock car racing. In 1984, he began his own racing journey, driving the iconic yellow Dudley Tire Works #79. Over the years, he competed at Dixie Motor Speedway, Auto City Speedway and Owosso Speedway, earning multiple track championships along the way.
Beyond the racetrack, Dean was a gifted auto mechanic, spending much of his life rebuilding transmissions and mastering the art of fixing just about anything. A true jack-of-all-trades. There was little he couldn’t repair, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Dean will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Survived by his Mother, Donna (McGlinchey) York;
Sisters, Sharon (Kenny) Krumm & Robin Green, Brenda York;
Daughters, Chrystal (Chris)Morgan, Tiffannee (Joshua) Scroggins and Steffannee (Charles) Roe.
Nieces and Nephews, Robin, Dean, Amy, Tom, Justin, Brad, Melissa, Jason, Kristy, Brian, Dylan, and Jacob.
Grandchildren, Hunter, Shali, Fisher, Colby, Haley, Sophia, Robert, Hunter, Damian and Dante.
We are forever grateful to his longtime friends: Mike Rosalez and Craig Horton
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl York; brother, David York; sister, Judith Trawick and niece, Tonya York.
