JONES, Betty I. – of Flint, age 86, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013 at The Brook in Boyne City. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 2 PM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will follow the Liturgy. Visitation will be 12 Noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Little Traverse Bay, 1 Hiland Drive, Petoskey, MI 49770.
Betty was born in Vassar, MI on April 23, 1927, daughter of the late Daniel and Ethel (VanWormer) Sherman. She married Rolland Jones in Flint on August 12, 1950 and he preceded her in death on May 22, 1981. Betty attended Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She was a fantastic seamstress and sewed for Heartbeat for many years. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and especially loved spending time with nature.
Betty is survived by her three children, Robert (Sandy) Jones, Sandra (Dennis) Salsgiver, Rebecca (Orrie) Jones; six grandchildren, Shaylon Jones, Chad (Lisa) Stuemke, Troy and Lance Salsgiver, Todd (Jessica) Jones, Lorrie Storey; four great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Ima) Sherman. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Geri Gehl and Mert Kellerman.
