SAIN, Dorina Jill- Is at rest and peace as of July 9, 2016. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at 11 AM at Court Street United Methodist Church, 225 W. Court St., Flint with Reverend Jeremy Peters officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 AM prior to service. Light lunch to follow.

Dorina was born in Flint, MI on January 29, 1953, the first child of Doris and Danny Sain. She graduated from Beecher High School in 1971. She attended Michigan State University and graduated from the University of Michigan- Flint with a bachelor's degree in Music Psychology. She was employed by the State of Michigan, including as an analyst for the Michigan House of Representatives Democratic Caucus, and as a Legislative Aide to former Representatives Deborah Cherry and Rose Bogardus.

For more than 45 years, Dorina shared her love and gift of music as a bell and chancel choir director, organist, and pianist for United Methodist and Presbyterian churches. Dorina was the designated pianist at family gatherings, performances, and recordings where she was surrounded by her cherished family all singing together. She saw beauty in everyday items and surrounded herself with things that brought great joy to her life: butterflies, angels, crosses, flowers, and music.

Dorina was a dedicated Democrat who worked tirelessly for candidates on the national, state, and local level. She served as Chairwoman of the Genesee County Democratic Women's Causus; served on the Genesee County Democratic Party Executive Board; was a member of the Michigan Democratic Party State Central Committee; and most recently chaired the Genesee County Democratic Party Credentials Committee. She also worked as an Absentee Ballot Elections Inspector for the City of Flint. Dorina's love of politics and community engagement extended to the League of Women Voters as a member and volunteer in voter registration initiatives.

Dorina was a supporter and believer in the Gift of Life. As such, her donation will benefit the lives of more than 50 people.

In addition to her beloved mother, Doris; she leaves sister, Rebecca Scofield of Leslie; brother, Danny Sain Jr. and wife Mary of Bancroft; sister, Norma Sain and partner Brian Wright of Genesee; sister, Jan Sain-Steinborn and husband Paul of Flushing; sister, Ramona Sain and husband Bill Khouri of Davison; brother, Rick Sain of Grand Blanc; nieces, nephews, uncle, aunts, her church grandchildren, and her Best Friend Forever, Paula Ayotte. She was preceded in death by her father, Danny D. Sain; sister, Jacqueline Sain Johnson; maternal grandparents, Marie and Norman Kennett; and paternal grandparents, Elizabeth and Eliphalet Sain.
