CUMPATA, Rose – of Davison, age 87, passed away November 22, 2017 at McLaren–Flint. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11 AM Friday, December 1, 2017 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Robert C. Bacik celebrant. Visitation will be 2-8 PM Thursday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 10-11 AM Friday at the church. Inurnment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery. A Memorial Service under the auspices of the Polish Legion of American Veterans (PLAV) will be held 6:45 PM Thursday. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM Thursday followed by a Memorial Service under the auspices of the Daughters of Isabella. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Rose was born in Flint, MI on December 2, 1929, daughter of the late Frank and Emily (Swerkos) Waseleski. She married John Cumpata on December 29, 1951 in their home and shared 66 years together. Rose was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church Alter Society, All Saints Parish and most recently St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and a past president of PLAV. Rose was a well-known Flint area caterer for 30 years, serving over 1000 weddings. She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren and her favorite cat, Moses.
Rose is survived by her husband, John; sons, Greg, Gary (JoEllen), Rodney (Laura); grandchildren, Emily, Kathryn, Ella and Jack. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Chris.
