Richard L. Beecher passed on December 6, 2018, at his home. His heart, which worked so hard pouring out love and kindness and generosity all 81 years of his life, simply wore out.
Richard was the son of the late Hazel May and William Beecher. He will forever be remembered by Diane, his loving wife. He was a loving father of three children: David Beecher and wife Christina; Melinda Beecher and her husband, Patrick Marcoux; and Catherine Hennessy and her husband, Scott; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren Michael Beecher (Heather) and their children, Kaden, Aurora and Delaney; Anthony Beecher and his children, Trevor and Jace; Morgan Shaver; Matthew Hennessy; and Margaret Hennessy. He was also survived by his brothers Robert Beecher and Charles May; his brothers- and sisters-in-law Shelley Alger, Stephen Alger, Sherrie Alger, Deb (Bill) Tageson, Charles (Jeanne) Alger, and John (Heather) Alger; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He loved spending time with his many treasured friends, whether he met them at 18 years old or in 2018.
Richard grew up in Davison and Detroit. He married Diane on October 8, 1960, at Trinity Lutheran Church, where they are long-time members. They spent 58 years together, often hosting friends and family at their home, wherever they were. Their adventures led them to live across the country and travel the world. His love of cars inspired a long career with Buick and General Motors. He was a collector of vintage cars and was active in his sports car and Porsche communities. He treasured his time at Elkhart Lake. He could always be counted on to tell a good story and was ready to dance to and sing along with Frank Sinatra.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, December 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 W. Flint Street, Davison, Michigan, Pastor Todd Frosti officiating, with private burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 11am until time of services. Luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in Richard’s memory to the Alger Scholarship Fund or Trinity Lutheran Church. Please share your condolences at www.hansenfuneralhome.net
