Garey Wayne Coffer, 70, of Lapeer and Hillman, died Friday, December 7, 2018.
Garey was born December 14, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan. He was adopted by Ebron “Abe” and Eva Coffer. He graduated from Lakeville High School, class of 1966. Garey worked for General Motors for a short time, Vesley’s (Apache) in Lapeer, Sea Ray Boats and eventually the Lapeer State Home. He absolutely loved his family and hunting, fishing, fly tying, gardening and was a gifted taxidermist. Garey was a true outdoorsman.
Garey is survived by his children: Matthew Coffer of St. Clair Shores, Mecquelch Coffer of Lapeer, Mikel (Sharron) Coffer of Otisville and Christian (Lawrence Evans) Coffer of Lapeer; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother, Bryce (Sally) Coffer of Auburn Hills. Garey is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Garey was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Coffer; father, Abe Coffer; mother Eva Milam and his step-father, Charles Milam.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family.
Friends may visit with Garey's family on Thursday, December 13th from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 14th at 11:00 a.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Pastor Drew Jolly will officiate. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery in Clarkston will immediately follow. |
