HOPKINS, Graham - Of Flint, age 89, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Avalon Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2012 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Chaplain Bill Evans officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery with a military graveside service under the auspices of VFW Post #822 Honor Guard.
Visitation 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m.
Mr. Hopkins was born in Arkansas on April 12, 1923, son of the late George and Vivian (Woodruff) Hopkins.
On June 30, 1952 he married Moddia Lackey in Newport, Arkansas and she preceded him in death in 2005.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved spending time with his family; enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Hopkins retired from GM Fisher Body-Grand Blanc.
Surviving are daughters, Sharon and husband Frank Velat,
Cheryl Hopkins and friend Jay Bunton,
Shirley and husband Gary Moore;
grandson and special caregiver, Sean Moore;
granddaughters, Carla and Derrin Smalec, Beth and husband Brad Wummel and Julie Moore;
grandson, Chris and wife Jennifer Moore;
great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Tyler Schack, Lauryn and Audrey Moore;
niece and nephew, Georgetta Moulton and Jerry Mitchell Hopkins; other great-nieces and nephews;
special friends, Thelma Young and Phyllis Jacob.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
