SMITH, William “Bill” – of Mt. Morris, age 91, went home to the Lord on June 2, 2019 at his residence. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service in honor of Bill will be held at 11AM on Saturday, July 6, 2019 at Clio Community of Christ, 4041 W. Vienna Road, Clio. Elder Marilyn Carpowich officiating. Family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clio Community of Christ.
Bill was born November 30, 1927 in Clio, Michigan to the late William A. and Evelyn (Gunlock) Smith. He attended Clio High School and Charles Stewart Mott Community College. Bill married Eunice Pushman on October 22, 1950 in Clio. She preceded him in death on September 10, 2008. Bill proudly served in the United States Army from 1944 until 1953. He retired from General Motors after 28 years of service and was a member of UAW Local #598. Bill was a lifetime member of Clio Community of Christ and served many years as an Elder. He was also an instructor and supervisor of AARP’s 55 Alive Driving Course. Bill enjoyed working on cars, woodworking and going dancing. Most of all, he loved being involved with family and church activities.
Surviving are: Companion Nina Smith, Children: William E. (Debbie) Smith, Doug (Sharon) Smith, Marilyn (Mitch) Carpowich, Cathy Seeley, and David (Nanette) Smith; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; Brother, Donald (Violet) Smith; Sisters: Wilma (Don) Iverson, Shirley (Richard) Wiley, Barbara (Bill) Taylor, Dorothy (Mike) Tignor, and many nieces, nephews, and dear family members.
