TURNAGE, Oliver F. - Of Flint, age 92, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at Homewood Village.
Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, April 20, 2013
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Pastor Esther Irish officiating.
Burial with Military Honors, 12:30am Monday April 22, 2013 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Dimond United Methodist Church.
Visitation 1-8pm Friday and 9:30am Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Oliver was born in Mumford, Tennessee on October 12, 1920, the son of the late Oliver and Nora (Gross) Turnage. On February 8, 1949, he married Bonnie Middleton. Mr. Turnage served in the United States Army in North Africa and Italy during World War II. Casablanca was always a favorite movie; he saw the movie on the ship on his way to Africa before it was released to the public. Oliver enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was employed with Chevrolet Manufacturing. Oliver was a member of Dimond United Methodist Church and was also President of Carman-Ainsworth Senior Center.
Surviving are wife, Bonnie;
sons, Frank (Pat) and Larry (Susan);
grandsons, Jay (Stefanie) and Bradley and great-grandson, Lucas Oliver and great-granddaughter, Delaney Rose;
nieces, Betty, Donna and Tina.
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
