Danks, Beverly Laurel of Grand Blanc, age 89. Beverly's sunset came peacefully at home with her family at her bedside on July 21, 2015. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2015, at Rossell Funeral Home. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 12 noon Friday until the time of the service. Those desiring, may make a contribution to the Greater Flint Art Council, 515 S. Saginaw St., Flint, Michigan or the Flint Institute of Arts, 1120 E. Kearsley St., Flint, Michigan.
Beverly's sunrise began on April 9, 1926, in Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of the late Perry and Vivian (Jensen) Suffel. She grew up in Flint and married the love of her life, Lloyd Danks the day after she graduated from Flint Technical High School in 1944. They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary in June of 2015.
She was handy with a needle, sat a good table and handled all the duties of a housewife with efficiency. During that time, she was employed at Smith-Bridgeman's as the window trimmer and display manager. Beverly got a special delight in trimming the window's for the Christmas Holidays.
She was a gifted and talented professional artist. Her works in oils, watercolors and mixed media are recognized throughout the area in art galleries, hospitals, and many private collections. For over forty years, she also taught oil painting, mixed media and watercolors in her private studio and held many exhibitions of the “Danks' Studio Artists.”
She enjoyed her summers at Beaver Lake with her grandchildren and dogs, Mark, Max, and Piper. Beverly enjoyed her travels to the East Coast, Ireland and Paris with her daughters and granddaughters.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; daughters, Cheryl (Gurdon) Hobson of Davison, Sabra Danks of Goodrich; grandchildren, Jamisen (John) Sivak of Waterford, Kristin (David) Roof of Grand Blanc, Nathan (Deborah) Hobson of Ann Arbor; great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Leah Sivak, Lillian and Michael Roof and Madeleine Hobson; brother, Keith Suffel of Muskegon; cousin, Phyllis Warsin of Flint; special nephew and niece, Lyle and Linda Pushman of Troy; and several other nieces and nephews. Beverly touched the hearts of many students and those who enjoyed her art.
The family would like to thank the Medical Team Hospice for all of their support, especially Claudia Gagnon, Charles Leach, Jr., Jennifer Bryant, Jenna White, Keishia Wilson and caregiver, Kim Chapman. |
