CLASE, Gary A. – of Burton, age 70, passed away Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, G-5199 Richfield Road, Flint, MI 48506; Fr. Roy Horning celebrant. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held 2-8 PM on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. A Scripture Service will be prayed at 6 PM. There will be one hour of visitation prior to Mass on Monday at the church.
Gary was born in Flint, MI on April 1, 1949 to Floyd and Alice (Carpenter) Clase. He graduated from Grand Blanc High School in 1967. Gary served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from March of 1969 until he was honorably discharged in October of 1970. Upon his return, he worked for GM Metal Fab on Bristol Road. Gary retired in September of 2005 after 38 years of service. He married Norma Jean Cole in September of 1975. Norma predeceased him in June of 1998. Gary then married Carol Lawson in June of 2004. She survives him. He was a long-time member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Gary enjoyed camping, had a passion for cars and trucks, and loved an occasional casino trip. Above all else, he always put his family first.
Gary is survived by his wife, Carol Clase; children, Kimberly (Michael) Brisson, Ryan (Susan) Clase, Jennifer (Michael) Petrach; grandchildren, Mason, Jordan, Jayden, Taylor, Joseph and Joshua; mother, Alice Clase; one sister, Janet (Gene) DuBuc; sister-in-law, Eileen Clase; a special brother-in-law, Don Cole; many nieces and a nephew. In addition to his wife, Norma, he was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Clase and a brother, Danny Clase.
