Kenneth William Porter, age 87 and lifetime resident of Flint, passed away on Monday August 26, 2019. He was born on February 20, 1932 in Flint to parents Walter and Jessie (Howe) Porter. Ken graduated from the Hoover School and afterwards served for four years in the US Navy with his twin brother, Keith. He taught in the Flint Schools and Carman-Ainsworth Schools for 22 years. Ken was the owner and operator of Ken’s Greenhouse with his wife Velma for more than 40 years. He was also a member of Church of Christ (Temple Lot) Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Velma (Giem) Porter; children: Dawn Hyde, Adam (Sue) Porter, Daniel Porter, Mark (Kay) Porter; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by both parents; twin brother, Keith Porter, and older brother, Edward Porter. “Loved you then, love you still. Always have, always will” – Your Family. A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Reigle Funeral Home, 5501 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11am. Interment at Sunset Hills Cemetery. |
