IKERD, Charles – Of Burton, age 90, died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Willowbrook Manor.
Cremation has already taken place.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National MS Society-Michigan Chapter, 21311 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076-3911.
Charles was born in Thomasville, North Carolina on November 1, 1926, the son of Henry and Lilly Ikerd. He was a resident of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 25 years, before returning to Michigan in 2005.
He married Nellie Smith on September 11, 1948 and she preceded him in death on October 12, 2005.
Charles served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Central Church of the Nazarene.
He loved golfing and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years in North Myrtle Beach.
Mr. Ikerd retired from Fisher Body I in 1980, after 32 ½ years of service.
Surviving are two children, Sue and husband Jesse Garcia,
Chuck and wife Laura;
grandchildren, Jason and wife Jennifer Garcia, Jennifer and husband Pat Rynka, Chad Ikerd and Jori Ikerd.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Henry, Jr. and one sister, Betty Myers.
