HANSON, James D. – age 67 passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born on August 6, 1948 in Battle Creek, Michigan to the late James and Jean (Bialek) Hanson. A memorial gathering will take place on April 30, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, MI 48439. James started working for GM at Buick, in Flint, in 1970 and continued for 36 years, retiring in 2006. James’ passion for photography led him to attend several courses at the Flint Institute of Arts. His favorite photography subjects were his family and the beauty of nature. He captured many moments through his lens, from breakfast with his wife of 42 years, Janice; to Saturday afternoons watching his favorite football team - the University of Michigan. As a volunteer, James shared his love of popcorn with the students at Randels Elementary School, as “the popcorn guy”. James is survived by his loving wife, Janice Hanson; children: Jaime (James) Lehtomaa, Jason (Hillary) Hanson; grandchildren: Avery, Nick, Vance, Ellevyra; and several relatives in Florida – daughters: Amy Drew and Michelle Powers; sister: Amy (Frank Kishel) Hanson; brothers: Tom (Bridget) Hanson and Mark (Sue) Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Jean (Bialek) Hanson.
