HELKO, Larry L. – “Tex” – Of Swartz Creek, age 74, died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Father Francisco Radecki officiating.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Larry was born in Vernon Township, Michigan on December 21, 1938, the son of Louis and Mary (Frankovich) Helko.
On June 30, 1962 he married Sharon Goul.
He was in the U.S. Navy as Corpsman in Texas.
He enjoyed traveling the entire world, spending time with his family and spending time at his cabin. He loved collecting things and being a jokester.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wayne, where he was very devoted.
Mr. Helko retired from GM as a Die Maker.
Surviving are wife, Sharon;
two daughters, Teresa and husband Kevin Godmar of Flint and
Tammy Bowers of Fenton;
sister, Patricia and husband Henry Woyahn of Tawas;
many nieces and nephews.
