Hogan, Michael James "Mike" - age 57, of Fenton, died peacefully at McLaren Flint on Thursday, November 28, 2019, after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 3, 2109 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 6481 Faussett Road, Howell. Fr. Gregg Pleiness celebrant. Visitation will be held at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton Monday from 3-8 PM where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 PM and at church Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of the Mass. Those desiring may make contributions to the Michael James Hogan Memorial Fund.
Mike was born on April 13, 1962 in Flint, Michigan. He is the son of Everett Lawrence (Larry) and Doris Elizabeth (Raleigh) Hogan. Mike and Vera were married on October 7, 1988. They had two children together, Sean 29 and William (Will), 27. Mike also has two sons from an early marriage to Sherry Smith; Jeremy, 38, and Devon, 34. He is grandfather to Keith, 2.
Mike was a friend to all and helped anyone who needed it. He was skilled in almost all of the trades, including vehicle mechanics, and was employed by Fenton Oaks Manufactured Home Community (M. Shapiro Management Co.) as a maintenance technician, a job he enjoyed for more than five years.
Mike loved spending most of his time with his family, including his sons, brothers and cousins. He was an outstanding cook and loved gardening and fishing. He was an avid John Wayne fan and owns video of nearly all of his films. What Mike looked forward to most was his annual hunting trip to Coleman, Michigan, with his hunting pals, Tony Mayhew and the Bouck brothers.
Surviving Mike are his wife, Vera, sons Jeremy (Yezi), Devon, Sean (Jane), William, his grandson, Keith; brothers Ed (Catherine Priebe), Paul (Michelle), Pat (Cheryl) and Chuck (Catherine “Kit”); his mother Doris, many aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, good friends and coworkers; and his beloved dog, Diesel. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Lawrence and his best friend, Christopher (Chris) Keck.
